Athar'a comes from my late Nani (grandmother's) name, Athar -meaning PURE, which was so fitting with this line ...the "a" at the end combines my name, Sara, with hers. My Nani grew up in the beautiful, lush city of Lucknow, India before ultimately migrating to Pakistan. She was known to be a natural healer, she would use ingredients like neem and turmeric for healing wounds and skin issues. She always taught me that natural beauty was the best beauty and that the best kept beauty secrets can be found in the gifts mother nature provides. From blending almonds and milk to form a mask to making homemade honey sugar scrubs in the kitchen as a child, natural skincare is just "natural" for me. Why did you start an all natural skincare line ? Ever since I was a little girl, I've been making homemade skincare treatments - it's something that I truly enjoy! I thought the idea of having a natural skincare line or spa that uses completely natural raw food ingredients would be great! But, what really pushed me to actually start a line was when my family was touched with cancer and others I knew and loved were also affected. After I started doing research on the types of things that cause cancer, I learned that one of the things that contributes to cancer are the toxins and harmful chemicals we not only put into our body, but the toxins that we put on our body! Those chemicals from skincare seep into our blood stream and can have negative long term effects including cancer! Once my children were born, I was certain I didn't want to put that stuff on them. I'm the type of person who doesn't like to sit around and complain, I like to take action...so I said, why not? I already have knowledge and experience with all natural, homemade skincare, I also want others to benefit and to spread awareness of the dangers of these chemicals and toxins and the importance of safe/healthy skincare - doing this just made sense to me.
