It all began in the summer of 2016 when Kristen started making candles for fun in the kitchen of their small apartment. Inspired by Charleston's charm, she came up with the idea to create candles that captured the essence of different places and experiences in the city. Soon after, they launched an Etsy shop, turning a creative hobby into a budding side business. As demand for their candles grew, what started as a fun project evolved into a full-time endeavor. Today, Charleston Candle Co. products are sold in stores across the U.S., spreading the unique spirit of Charleston far and wide. Chaz now works full-time for the company, juggling everything from candle production to logistics and warehouse management—keeping every day exciting and busy. Kristen oversees the behind-the-scenes operations, managing communications, marketing, branding, and product development, ensuring the company stays true to its roots while growing its reach. Chaz, a College of Charleston alumnus, and Kristen settled in Charleston after their wedding in 2013, falling in love with the city's historic charm and coastal beauty.
