Uncle Butch Relocates to Florida Butch and his handmade fudge relocated to Florida, where he continued selling at local markets and quickly built a new following. Uncle Butch begins selling his fudge online – first on eBay, then Amazon, quickly transforming Uncle Butch's Fudge from a regional treat into a national favorite. Old South Candy (Originally Yummy Carousel), grows from a small Knoxville Candy Shop into a regional name known for old-fashioned, small-batch fudge. Two Stories become One Handcrafted Legacy Bill, a retired truck driver turned candy maker, helps acquire Uncle Butch’s Fudge and relocates it to Knoxville, blending Uncle Butch’s recipes with Old South Candy's long‑standing heritage. After Bill's passing, the cooks he trained continued crafting the southern classics created by Uncle Butch, Old South Candy, and Bill, while introducing new flavors rooted in tradition. Proudly rooted in East Tennessee, the team continues sharing a small taste of their heritage with every batch Our first story begins with Uncle Butch – known to his family as the relative whose desserts and treats stole the show. In the early 2000s, Uncle Butch began selling his renowned confections at local farmers markets, fairs, and community events in his native Pennsylvania. As popularity grew, Uncle Butch went mobile and traveled up and down the east coast - sharing his confections for all to enjoy, soon becoming a favorite sweet shop for thousands of fans. Years later, Butch and his handmade fudge relocated to Florida, where he continued selling at local markets and quickly built a new following. He then took the bold step to sell his fudge online – starting with eBay and quickly moving to Amazon. Suddenly, Uncle Butch’s Fudge reached customers across the country, turning market regulars on the east coast into devoted fans nationwide. Uncle Butch Meets Old South Candy In 2022, Uncle Butch’s Fudge found a new home in Knoxville, TN., right alongside another Knoxville Legacy – Old South Candy. Old South Candy started as Yummy Carousel in the 1970s – a local candy shop with a reputation of old-fashioned, small-batch sweets and famous fudge that locals loved, expanding to multiple locations throughout Knoxville Chattanooga and Atlanta. That same spirit of care and community matched the care of Uncle Butch. Bill, a retired truck driver turned master-candy maker, shared amazing confections with a smile. Bill had been working with Old South Candy and was ready to start on his own – joined with some old friends, he helped acquire Uncle Butch, relocating to Knoxville. Together, Bill and his friends focused on the next chapter for Uncle Butch’s Fudge, beginning to teach the next generation of cooks. The next generation of candy makers Bill lovingly trained continues to produce the southern classics Uncle Butch, Old South Candy & Bill crafted over decades, expanding into new and exciting flavors while maintaining these old-fashioned favorites.
