VIO2® started as a passion project when the son of Dr. Vincent + Lindsey Ip was diagnosed with a breathing disorder and suffered from open mouth posture at age 3, in 2015. Wanting to do anything to help their child, Dr. Ip started down a path of extra training and residencies to become an expert in the treatment of sleep disorders and facial aesthetics. Throughout that process and training - Dr. Ip and Lindsey kept coming across the practice of mouth taping. At the time, the only mouth tape on the market was full coverage, and they weren't comfortable using that on their son or recommending it to patients. Lindsey dedicated herself to perfecting the art of mouth tape. Finally, in 2022, after years of prototypes and safety testing, VIO2® was launched. I’m Lindsey Ip, and I originally created VIO2 for my son, who struggled with mouth breathing at night. My husband, Dr. Vincent Ip, a dentist in Austin, TX, and I knew how important nasal breathing is for healthy growth, sleep, and oral development — but we couldn’t find a product that was safe, gentle, and effective for kids (or adults!). So, we made our own. What started as a simple solution for our son quickly became something that transformed my own sleep. I had my doubts but have been having the most restful sleep I've had in the past 5+ years. Stays put and hasn't made me break out at all. By far the best mouth tape I have ever tried! Doesn’t irritate your skin, you can still drink water and is so comfortable! There is a noticeable difference in my sleep quality if I don’t use this. Highly highly recommend!! I feel like my sleep is much more restful, while its also easy to apply and remove. As someone with a collapsed nasal valve who went through three different doctor consultations and was seriously considering surgery, I know firsthand how exhausting it can be to struggle with breathing at night. The tape is comfortable, stays on all night without feeling irritating, and I’ve noticed I wake up feeling way more rested and less groggy in the morning. I also love that it doesn’t feel harsh on my skin when removing it. Such a simple little wellness product that’s made a difference in my nighttime routine and sleep quality!
